WITH HER reign as Miss Ghana (2007) coming to an end, elegant-looking Frances Tekyi-Mensah seems to be doing all in her power to solve the help-related problems of all who come her way.
Frances, who would be representing Ghana at the Miss World pageant scheduled for October this year, is craving the indulgence of benevolent bodies and individuals as well as the general public to come to the aid of a three-year-old baby-girl, Mabel Atuku.
Little Mabel Atuku has been diagnosed as having a hole-in-heart ailment which makes her squat after few minutes of walking or standing. She always cries because of the pain she goes through.
Last February with the help of the Ghana Heart Foundation and Miss Ghana herself as well other donors, the little girl underwent a surgery successfully. Less than nine months from now, she will be due for a crucial and expensive second surgery at the cost of €7,500.
The Ghana Heart Foundation would be responsible for half the amount.
Frances as part of her aim to give back to society, is appealing to generous individuals and organisations to help Mabel pay for the other half.
In a release, the 21-year-old beauty queen who is also a final year student of the University of Ghana said, “I am appealing on Mabel’s behalf, for public support.
Who knows the future of Mabel and many others with this same condition? I strongly believe in helping and reaching out to the less fortunate little ones. They are good angels given to us by God and we must give them that love, care and support, just as how God in Heaven, with his angels take good care of us all.”
She said donors must also support the Ghana Heart Foundation, stressing.
