T.T. BROTHERS Company, sole distributors of Tango and Purejoy fruit drinks, in collaboration with the Greater Accra Cycling Association, is organizing the TOUR D’ACCRA Championship dubbed, “PUREJOY TOUR” on Sunday November 25, 2007.
The race, which will cover a total distance of 136 kilometers, will bring together 100 cyclists from Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi/Takoradi, Ho and others from some ECOWAS countries such as Cote D’Ivoire, Togo and Burkina Faso.
T.T. Brothers has set aside GH¢5,000 and other packages for the event in addition to the trophy at stake, with the winner getting GH¢300, the first and second runners-up receiving GH¢250 and GH¢200 respectively, while the fourth and the fifth placed persons will pocket GH¢150 and GH¢100 in that order.
Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Hon O.B. Amoah, Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Sports; the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Sheikh I.C. Quaye; Mr. Agyiri Blankson, Mayor of Accra; Hon Prince Oduro-Mensah, Chief Executive of the National Sports Council (NSC); Mr. Charles Aryeh, Chief Administration Officer of the NSC; and some officials of the British High Commission, Royal Netherlands Embassy and French Embassy among others.
All are expected at the Maracuja House at Nungua where the cyclists will start the race at 8.30 am and move towards Accra Trade Fair Giffard Road to Burma Camp Junction through Kawokudi and then move to Dimples Junction.
The race will continue to Achimota Overpass to Mallam and to Kaneshie at Obetsebi Lamptey round about to Korle-Bu and back to Obetsebi to Graphic road from where they will progress to the National Theatre and to the Ministries.
Cyclists will pass through the Independence Square to Jokers Junction and LA Palm Hotel and then back to Nungua. On their arrival at the Nungua barrier, cyclists will go 3 lapses to Sakumono Estates and then back to the MARACUJA House, which is the finishing point.
