As part of activities marking this year’s Christmas, Millicom Ghana Limited, operators of Tigo have launched “Be Rich Campaign”, a short message service (SMS) promotion aimed at making as many subscribers as possible instantly rich.
The promotion, which began on December 5, this year, would run through the first quarter of 2008.
Tigo decided to launch the campaign just before Christmas because naturally it was a time of the year when people desired to fill their wallets to be able to spend on their friends and family. According to a statement, in the Be Rich Campaign, Tigo would automatically open a virtual wallet for a subscriber when they send the word RICH to Tigo shortcode 2020.
It said for every RICH that is sent, the subscriber would receive GH¢10 into their virtual Tigo wallet and would be charged 20GP. The more RICHs sent, the bigger the subscriber’s virtual Tigo wallet becomes. The subscriber stands the chance of winning up to GH¢1,000 a week, while an amount of GH¢5,000 would go to the highest player for each month.
Three lucky Tigo people could win up to GH¢500 weekly and GH¢2000 monthly.
Subscribers could check their virtual wallets by sending CW to Tigo shortcode 2020, after which they would get a message indicating the amount of money in their virtual Tigo wallet.
