THE GOLDEN jubilee edition of the annual Joy Fm Bridal Fair at the Accra International Conference Centre ended yesterday.
The exhibition was to showcase all the things needed for a successful wedding, including bridal gowns and accessories, jewellery, wedding cakes, suits as well as services - from bridal gown rentals to wedding consultancy, through marriage counselling. It attracted the patronage of prospective couples and even already married couples.
Last Friday the exhibition officially opened with a glamorous bridal ride and cake cutting ceremony by model brides and grooms, who graced the occasion.
The bridal ride saw two brides and their grooms riding in classic limousines around some principal streets of Accra. The ride which began at the Conference Center through to the Osu Oxford Street ended at the Conference Center with the cake-cutting ceremony.
Mr. Kofi Owusu, programmes Manager of Joy Fm, briefing participants on the significance of the exhibition, said it was to educate couples on how to plan and perform their weddings without any stress.
He said it was also to save prospective couples from the hustle and bustle of looking for accessories for their wedding, adding that now they have a simple pleasure of selecting all things they would need for their wedding under one roof.
He stressed further that the fair was to create a platform also for various exhibitors in the fashion industry, both local and foreign, to showcase their products and transact business.
“The Joy Bridal Fair is not only targeted at prospective couples or marriage partners. It also provides a platform for both foreign and local entrepreneurs to exhibit their products and services and to establish business contacts for future transactions,” he stated.
Exhibitors at the fair, he said, were over 80, an increment over the previous year’s. This year’s fair is the fifth.
