One radio presenter who has made a name for himself on the mid-morning shows in the Accra metropolis is Yaw Nkrumah, aka Adwumawura.
Over the last two years or so, Adwumawura (as he calls himself) has become a household name on Hot FM.
Currently single, he is seriously in need of a life partner because he does not want old age to catch up with him.
“I need a life partner who would give me real love and comfort till I die. I do not want to marry a woman who would love me because of my wealth.
I have female friends from whom I could choose my life partner, but women these days should not be trusted because they all want to associate themselves with young guys who are rich. I would not rush to settle down since I still have a lot for my fans.”
As a host of Hot FM’s mid-morning show, Adwumawura is known for his creative style in presentation and good music over the period that he hosted his programme on radio.
Although he is in two demanding professions- broadcasting and advertising, Adwumawura does not seem to be feeling the stress that goes with them.
His owns an Advertising and Public Relations outfit, Media Solution and is a presenter as well at Hot FM.
According to 29 - year old Adwumawura, “I do not have problems handling my jobs because I try to maintain a good balance so that neither of them suffers.”
In an interview with Beatwaves, Adwumawura, who has been in the radio business for the past seven years, hinted that he joined the industry because of the interest he had, but his dream was to become a banker.
“I developed interest in broadcasting when I associated myself with Cecil Obodai Wentumi, a presenter at GBC and I was a guest on his programme.”
Adwumawura who is considered by a section of the listening public as the finest, said he sees himself as a hard working presenter who always thinks of satisfying his listeners and admirers in whatever he does.
“I am always focused and always go through research before going on air to present my programme.
I managed to achieve success through hard work and dedication to the job.”
Ever since he appeared on radio seven years ago, Adwumawura’s has experienced no turning back as he manages to host his mid-morning programme on Hot FM.
He is currently paving his way to the top as his admirers keep rising every day.
Adwumawura, who hails from Nkroful in the Western region, comes from a family of six, two boys and four girls.
He started his broadcasting career with GBC Radio 2 in 1999 and later joined Adom FM in the year 2000 where he hosted the mid-morning show, Work and Happiness.
Expressing his commitment to his profession, Adwumawura said, “I don’t look down on myself when am busy at work, I am confident and fearless because I believe I could do better day after day.”
He said the job gives him much pleasure because he is able to help others solve their problems through his programme.
On his future, Adwumawura, who says he aimed at achieving the best, singled out God, his parents, Mr and Mrs Nkrumah and Cecil Obodai Wentumi of GBC as the ones who inspired him.
Beatwaves: How do you cope with your numerous friends? Adwumawura: I have a bunch of friends and acquaintances, but I simply think that it's easy to keep all of them on the same page.
There are some people who are closer to me than the everyday ‘hi', ‘hello' ‘goodbye' people that I come across.
Being friends with somebody doesn't hurt. They’re like plants; you always have to water them, take care of them because your friends are your brothers and sisters.
Beatwaves: How does it feel to know that people appreciate what you do?
Adwumawura: It's a good feeling.
It's great that at least I may not be big or may not have all the money in the world but so far as I can do something for somebody and the person appreciates it, it feels good.
Beatwaves: Four hours in the studio every day in the week. How does it feel?
Adwumawura: It has become like second skin. I don't think, I just do it because I love it.
