Allure Spa in the City is one of Accra’s most chic massage and beauty parlours.
This pampering spot, which opened just a few months ago, treats guests to the smooth sounds of the Ray Allen type Jazz while they get their nerves relieved of stress and the week’s headaches.
The spa, which is right in the heart of Accra on the Ring Road, close to Osu, promises to be a sanctuary for those who need to really get away from the stress of the city.
In an interview earlier this week with Dzigbordi Dosoo, Director of Allure Ghana Limited which runs the upscale Allure Beauty Palaces and Allure Spa in the City, she explained, “Allure Spa in the City is a serene place where you can escape from everything, all the pressure and stress, a place where you can stop to relax, nourish your body and mind and reawaken your senses.
We have something for everyone - from the busy executive who is too busy to fit a stress-busting massage, the busy mum in need of a rejuvenating facial to bring back that sparkle, to the bride-to-be looking for some pampering to make her look her best on her ‘big day’.”
They have something to cater for everyone’s needs, including basic haircuts for men who need a quick trim for the weekend.
The real gems in Allure Spa in the City are the treatment rooms, where clients can relax while they get a tension-releasing massage or a rejuvenating facial or pedicure.
There are six colour themed rooms, each with a colour specially selected to positively affect your mood. My favourite is the rainbow room - the fusion of colours set against the walls and furniture creates a very serene comforting atmosphere - while the brown earth room, with its earth tones puts you immediately at ease. Allure Spa in the City is open to members and non-members alike.
The membership programme, however, offers serious discounts (10-20%) on services and products at the Spa in the City, Allure Beauty Palace and Nudufe café.
Meanwhile, for those of you looking for a good restaurant where you can find homemade Ghanaian food, you can try out the Ghanaian Village, at the La Palm Royal Hotel on the Labadi beach road. They serve a variety of Ghanaian dishes, buffet style.
You will find ampesi, fufu, akple and others, including deserts like kaklo, nkate cake, etc on the menu. While you may assume that prices would be high because it is located at the hotel, pricing is surprisingly reasonable and actually affordable.
On those nights when cooking is too much trouble, the Ghanaian Village is definitely an option. Watch out for follow-up articles on the hottest spots to be in and around town, plus what and when is going down. Stay blessed and peace out!!
