THE LIVING passion of the people, multi-talented entertainer Fritz Baffour, is easily the choice of all when it comes to entertaining in the country.
Beginning at an early age, he is still seen as one of the best comedians whose profile has been on the rise.
He naturally seems to have the will, determination and capability to make the gloomy happy and the less miserable blissful.
Born 45 years ago by a father engineer and a midwife mother, Fritz Baffour has been an indomitable figure in the entertainment field with his explosive performance in England and Ghana.
A journalist, Fritz has worked with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation as a presenter, producing, directing and presenting all his programmes.
In a brief chat with Beatwaves in Accra, Fritz disclosed that aside being a comedian, he had established his own media consortium in Accra.
According to him, most Ghanaians presumed, being an entertainer and as such a comedian, one was not serious in life, so few invested in them.
Commenting on the current status of acting in the country, he described actors and entertainers as the poorest in the country.
According to him, one could not survive on acting alone as a profession, especially because Ghanaian investors preferred sponsoring foreign movies and comic activities to local ones.
“It is sad to say that people know they need to be entertained yet do not put the right value into it.”
His popular programme, Fritz and Friends for instance had been missing on our TV screen for the past month, due to lack of sponsorship, he pointed out, warning that the country’s entertainment industry could collapse unless this trend changed.
His desire to entertain was still alive, except for sponsorship. Fritz was the producer and director of F and F in the 1980s, with Tommy Annan Forson.
Recently, he invented and produced the Fritz and Friends comic series which hit our TV screen recently, and which attracted a lot of fans all over the country.
The Fritz and Friends show, he said, was in collaboration with Dan Kermah of Stage One production, featuring twelve students from the University of Ghana, Legon.
