To be accepted as a good and challenging radio presenter in the capital one must have been through a lot of processes.
They normally start from the rural areas to have more working experience before one will qualify and be accepted in the urban area no matter the institution you attend for your tutorials for the profession. Today a stone the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone because after graduation from GIJ most of the radio stations he applied for turned him down but now they are running after him.
Don Kwabena Prah Jnr. Also known as Don Dada of Fox 97.9 FM in Kumasi completed "Rabodef"(Tommy Annan Forson's radio school) and then proceeded to the Ghana Institute of Journalism GIJ where he finally attained a Diploma in Journalism. After hustling for some time he eventually had a job at Radio Mercury where he hosted the morning show for three years. He then relocated himself after the three years at Kessiwaa FM for nine months and here he presented the midmorning program. Don Dada again wanted more working experience so he flew to Nananom FM, a sister station of Angel FM located in Goaso.
He was about to sign his gig with the management of Angel group of companies when the Chief Executive Officer of F. Giant Broadcasting Limited, Francis Kwabena Poku popularly known as Afro or Franco Capitona noticed the potentials and talent possessed by the enterprising young man and made a fast move ahead of the others and three months ago signed him on to Fox FM. Don Dada is the host of the political program "Hard ball" aired on Saturday evening between the hours of 6:30 and 9pm and also pairs with Captain Smart on the morning show. His slot is from Thursday to Saturday.
For the three years in radio presentation he was able to sweep away the over all best media practitioner in the Brong Ahafo Region for 2006-2007. For his prize he will soon be embarking on a two-week course program with the media in Cairo. A program organized by Newmont Ghana Gold and sponsored by African Origin.
Aside his radio presentation career he is also into acting and a member of the Culture Centre Drama Troupe, who is about to hit the limelight and again a former president of the group. He also runs his own entertainment firm called "FIRE HOUSE ENTERTAINMENT CREW" where they organize events and also the organizers of the annual Bob Marley concert in Kumasi.
Don Dada also used the platform to throw a challenge to the National Media Commission to set standards for radio presenters because now some people with no formal training about the profession are not making it attractive and due to this people now think radio presentation is a job for school drop outs who just want to make it in life.
