We all have friends who tell us what to wear, but sometimes you just need that little extra help with what not to wear! This month, BBC Prime brings audiences the BAFTA Award-nominated makeover reality show, WHAT NOT TO WEAR.
Join DStv and witness as one style-challenged person in each episode undergoes a makeover at the hands of two extremely outspoken presenters.
Premiering on Saturday November 24 at 15:00 CAT the show is hosted by award-winning English fashion guru and designer, Trinny Woodall and fashion designer and author, Susannah Constantine. Together they take style-challenged individuals on a journey towards tailored self-esteem.
Woodall has co-authored many fashion advice books with Constantine, and several have become bestsellers in the United Kingdom and the United States and have sold an estimate of 2.5 million copies worldwide.
Her second book is entitled What Not To Wear after the makeover show has gained her a British Book Award. It has sold in excess of 670 000 copies. Woodall and Constantine released their own Littlewoods clothing range and latest fashion advice book, The Body Shape Bible, in 2007.
In the program, each week one person is given two days to shop for suitable clothing at a selected location after consultation from Woodall and Constantine, who take particular regard to the participant’s body shape and self-image and determine what will work best for them.
On the first day, they are left to their own devices to test how much they have learnt about which clothes are suitable and comply with the rules. On the second day, the experts ambush the nominee and comment on whether the previous day’s purchases complied with the correct guidelines as to which clothes to buy.
The two presenters also watch live video footage of the participant shopping and comment on whether the participant is following the rules given.
If the participant is struggling, they rush to the scene to help. The experts then accompany the participant around the shops, providing advice and assistance, often being critical.
After all the shopping, DStv audiences would see how hair stylists and makeup artists work on the nominee’s hair and makeup respectively.
After the makeover, the participants reveal themselves to the experts and are brought to a full-length mirror to see their transformed state. The participant models three outfits for the experts, often showing confidence and poise.
The participant departs and soon after, reveals themselves with their transformed appearance to their friends and family. Some time after the participant’s makeover, the fashion gurus would pay them a surprise visit, in order to establish whether they have adhered to the rules for their clothing.
So if you are interested to re-invent yourself, don’t miss WHAT NOT TO WEAR as the two experts not only give advice to the participants, but to you at home too! Tune in for WHAT NOT TO WEAR on Saturdays (starting November 24) at 15:00 CAT on BBC Prime, channel 120, on DStv.

Imagine a car that has no doors, metal tyres, runs on electricity, has no steering wheel and that changes colour in accordance to the outside weather conditions… Hard to imagine? Maybe not! With today’s cars constantly changing, this may just be a glimpse of what future cars may look like.
Premiering on Friday November 23 on DStv the four-part series, FUTURECAR, puts viewers in the driver’s seat of cars that will redefine automobiles as we know them. The program provides a glimpse at the designs of the future and the incredible technologies that would make it all happen.
The cars of the next century would be made of different materials and would run on a variety of fuels including electricity, hydrogen and gas.
These new automobiles would be roomier, safer and contain more information technology than most people have in their homes today.
In the series, the most illustrious designers around the globe will weigh in on how a car’s shape would be affected by advancing technologies. Student designers would bring their youth to the table and design their own visions for what a car would look like in 2030.
FUTURECAR would reveal to DStv audiences how endless the possibilities are when the most powerful computer in your life resides in your car.
Each week the program would look at a different aspect of the car. In The Extremes audiences would discover a place imagination rules and cars fly.
This episode finds the visionaries at the edge of the automotive world, creating new answers to old questions. Like, what will “speed” mean in the future?

In The Body the show answers the burning question: “What will future cars look like?”
DStv viewers will awe at the change in the hydrogen-capable chassis of the future. They’ll be amazed at the endless possibilities offered by Virtual Reality. They’ll also see ultra-light cars; tiny leaning cars; and even an entirely new look at the world’s first invention - the wheel.
