His quest for growth and knowledge has taken him farther and he observes he is catching up with great professionals in the industry. Ever since he left Adom FM for Hot FM a year ago, Yaw has been abreast of national issues.
Before Yaw left Adom FM, his programme, Work and Happiness was adjudged the best mid-morning programme on radio two years ago.
“I am committed to my profession. I don’t look down on myself when I’m busy working in the studio. I am confident because I believe I could do better day after day,” he told DAILY GUIDE in a chat.
Yaw Nkrumah sees himself as a role model because he believes he has been able to impact on people’s lives through radio.
“I don’t snub people because for anyone to pick up his or her phone to call you shows how much you are appreciated and I believe it is only polite to show compassion to your fans. In my hometown I am treated with a lot of respect and much is expected of me and I believe that I have been doing my best,” says Adwumawura. Yaw Nkrumah, who comes from a family of six - two boys and four girls - hails from Nkroful in the Western region. He started his broadcasting career with GBC Radio 2 in 1999 and later joined Adom FM in the year 2000, hosting the mid-morning show, Work and Happiness.
He hinted that he wanted to showcase his talent on other platforms and perhaps acquire some skills to make him a better professional.
“If I see my colleagues doing well internationally it inspires the younger generation, and that’s what I hope to do. I haven’t reached where I want to in life; I’ve not succeeded enough to feel that I’ve made it. I’m still learning and going on and hope that God is kind enough to show me the way.
”Currently Yaw, who is studying Human Resource Management at the Methodist University, hopes to pursue a degree in Law also.
