Undoubtedly one of the ‘must see’ TV programmes of this Christmas season is ‘We the Children’, a documentary to be shown on Ghana Television on Boxing Day.
‘We the Children’ is an interview session conducted with former UN Secretary-General, Busumuru Kofi Annan, by a group of children, aged 6 to 15, speaking from different continents. The group is led by Seveamenu Ankuh-Quarcou.
The programme is an independent documentary produced by Doris Adabasu Kuwornu of GTV.
Ms Kuwornu told Times Weekend that the children were chosen from Africa, Europe, Asia and America.
"The video crew travelled to the different continents to record questions asked by children on citizenship and identity. The concerns of the world’s children are addressed by His Excellency Kofi Annan in the programme. The content of the programme is tailored to children’s understanding of issues on citizenship and identity, which are complex issues that most people do not understand."
She listed the objectives of the interview:
To provide knowledge about Busumuru Kofi Annan to children beyond what they see on TV and read in the papers. To give children with different backgrounds a mentoring programme that cuts across race and gender.
‘We the children’ will be shown at 4.30 p.m. on December 26.
